Universal Hard Reset Method
Brand-Specific Reset Procedures
Whirlpool Washers
Unplug 1 minute. Or use the service test mode: rotate dial 3 clicks right, 1 left, 1 right (Cabrio models).
Samsung Washers
Unplug 5 minutes. Or hold Power + Temp buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.
LG Washers
Unplug 10 seconds. Then hold the Start/Pause button for 5 seconds after powering back on.
Whirlpool/Maytag Dryers
Unplug 1 minute.
Samsung Refrigerators
Hold the Energy Saver and Freezer buttons simultaneously for 8 seconds.
LG Refrigerators
Hold the Refrigerator and Ice Plus buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds.

Unplug 30 seconds.

Hold the Start button for 3 seconds to reset the current cycle. For control lockout, hold Start for 4 seconds.
When a Reset Is Not Enough
A reset does not fix a broken part. If the same error code returns immediately after a reset, or after the first wash cycle, the underlying fault is still present and requires diagnosis and repair.
